Overview
Delivering personal care with dignity, respect, and clinical precision is a cornerstone of high-quality disability and aged care support. Our Bowel & Stoma Care Training Course is designed to provide Support Workers with the essential skills and knowledge to confidently assist clients with their bowel care needs, including those requiring complex bowel care or living with a stoma.
This comprehensive training explores the structure and function of the gastrointestinal system, highlights common bowel-related health issues, and covers safe, hygienic practices for supporting participants with bowel management plans. You’ll also learn how to assist clients with colostomy care, including changing and managing stoma appliances, and understanding the emotional and lifestyle impacts of stoma-related conditions.
With a strong emphasis on person-centred care, infection control, documentation, and the legal responsibilities of support workers, this course ensures you are fully prepared to deliver safe, effective, and compassionate care in line with NDIS requirements

BOWEL Management workshop
- Introduction to the gastrointestinal system and healthy bowel function
- Bowel care needs and interventions, including micro enemas and prescribed medications
- Common bowel-related medical conditions, including autonomic dysreflexia
- Understanding and managing different types of stomas
- Safe stoma care, appliance changes, and hygiene procedures
- Risk management, documentation, and emergency escalation
- NDIS guidelines for complex bowel care and support planning
- Psychological and lifestyle considerations for clients living with a stoma
- Infection control, medication charts, and care procedures
- Practical training: stoma care, product handling, and bowel care techniques
